If ever a piece of software needed a manual it’s photoshop – such an intimidating programme when you first open it up, without a recourse like this it takes a lot of trial and error, frustration and practice and chipping away, learning one thing at a time, to unlock its potential – and I speak as someone who’s only just getting to grips with it.

As CS6 is the last standalone version before Adobe went to a licensing model, I think this book will continue to be an important resource for some years to come. This manual is a good all-round guide – it will help getting to grips with making leaflets posters etc as much as for editing photos – it’s set out well with some useful illustrations.

Some of its cosy American language jarred with me a little – “most folks just call ’em layer styles One person found this helpful. This is an amazing piece of work but finding what you want is not always obvious. The answers will almost certainly be in it but not always obvious and some practice will be needed to hone your skills. If you know nothing or you are looking to hone existing technics this manual will help. There is a lot of free advice on the net useful if you are already familiar with the CS products, but this book fills in all the gaps.

After a few weeks reading and playing I have only just down loaded the missing CD having used it on my own shots to this point. It might at first seem a bit expensive, it made me think before buying it but my advice now would be, if you are serious enough to buy CS6 then you owe it to yourself to buy this incredible book.

Once again the Missing Manual series scores highly. Written in such a friendly, informative way with lots of pictures and sensible explanation. Photoshop is an incredibly complicated piece of software so something like this is essential. In its book form it’s quite useful when looking at the computer screen and being able to move around in the book.

Report abuse. Any Missing Manual series generally is one of the best guides to the software you can buy. This is no different. Well recommended. This book focuses on the Standard edition of Photoshop CS6 and in my opinion really lives up to the “Missing Manual” name.

I am a Photoshop newbie and I can honestly say this book has been a godsend. The book covers all the previous edition tools, tricks and tips in addition to fully explaining all of the new features available in CS6.
