Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Once you’ve removed the “old” account, you can add it again. Methods 1 and 2 failed and the third one worked fine until I entered all my info. Actually, no error.
I took a snapshot of all the stuff. I am also having problems opening Outlook Win 8. Outlook was doing some bizarre things like starting up with old emails and not being able to get new emails, etc.
So, I uninstalled Office and Business and used by backup disk to reinstall. The other apps within Office work fine. I have an outlook. Go to the Windows view, then type Mail. But there’s no place for me to type anything without opening an app.
Add on. I used the inbox repair tool but it didn’t work. Then I used the MS fix it tool to completely remove Office Then reinstalled from my backup disk it was installed originally by Dell. All the programs work fine, except Outlook. The error box says: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook.
Cannot open the Outlook Window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The operation failed. OK obviously it is not OK. I have a backup Outlook.
But if I could get the new install of Outlook to work with a brand new Outlook. You may create a new Outlook profile configure the email account in Outlook and check if it works as expected. Reinstalling won’t help you since it is a configuration issue and not an installation issue ;-. In reply to Srinivasu Guntimadugu’s post on February 4, Thanks – This worked like a charm. In reply to MRL’s post on March 9, Third option worked best. I just bought Office , it said it downloaded put all the parts of it say it isn’t repsonding.
I should nt have to pay for service when I just bought this shari rogers. But Outlook won’t start up. Says the folders are the problem. I used the MS Fix It tool, but it said nothing was wrong, so it didn’t fix anything. I tried your first two methods above without success, but I’m not sure how to do the third one.
